Azimuth Airline has transported its first millionth passenger

Today, on April 10, 2019, the carrier’s first millionth passenger was registered in the Azimuth Airline flight Rostov-on-Don – Nizhny Novgorod.

1 000 000

The airline made its first commercial flight from Rostov-on-Don on September 15, 2017, and on September 21, 2017, regular flights began. Today, Azimuth Airline is the basic carrier of the new Platov Airport; most of the flights of its route network are made from there.

"A million passengers is a truly significant figure for the company, an indicator of the fact that the company is increasing its momentum. This year, we are going to transport one million two hundred thousand passengers, and this will be two million passengers since the beginning of our activity," Azimuth Airline General Director Pavel Ekzhanov said.

The carrier’s "jubilee" passenger Roman Fomenko (the native of Rostov-on-Don) flying on business to Nizhny Novgorod received a certificate for a free flight from the company and a certificate for enhanced comfort hall service from the airport.

"A million passengers transported by Azimuth Airline within one and a half years of work is a decent result. This is an indicator of the demand for direct flights to the cities of Russia by the Rostov region residents. At the same time, Azimuth’s passengers are our passengers, and we are pleased that our joint efforts allow developing air traffic in our region," the Platov airport executive director Alexander Serov said.

"Development of air transportation from the Platov airport is of fundamental importance for the entire economy of the Rostov region; therefore, the Azimuth’s one million threshold is a great event," head of the regional transport ministry Andrei Ivanov said. "Our basic carrier is growing in terms of both the passenger traffic and geographic expansion. In many ways, this is facilitated by subsidies provided by the regional government. In the budget of 2019, 224.6 million rubles have been allocated for these purposes."
