Baggage Check‑In Rules

Baggage Check‑In Rules

Baggage check‑in for a flight is carried out only at the departure airport, at the passenger check‑in counters.

Passenger and baggage check‑in is performed on the basis of the electronic flight ticket and the passenger's identification document used to issue the ticket, as well as electronic documents confirming the booking of additional excess baggage, if applicable.

If the planned journey involves several segments or flights operated by the airline, the passenger may avail of through‑baggage check‑in (baggage checked through to the final destination), with the exception of journeys involving a connection at Mineralnye Vody Airport.

For example, a flight is operated as Flight A4 6057 on the route Mineralnye Vody — Ufa with a connection in Astrakhan. The connection time is only 1 hour. When checking in at Mineralnye Vody, the baggage is checked through to Ufa; therefore, the passenger does not need to worry about baggage check‑in during the connection in Astrakhan.

With through‑baggage check‑in, the airline transfers the baggage to the next segment or flight without requiring any additional action from the passenger.

Attention!

If a passenger's journey is booked on separate tickets, in order to arrange through‑baggage check‑in the passenger must inform the airport staff at the check‑in counter or the airline representative about the existence of a flight ticket for the second segment or flight (the itinerary receipt of the electronic ticket for the second segment or flight will need to be presented).

Currently, through‑baggage check‑in to the final destination is available only for domestic flights. For journeys where one of the segments or flights is to or from an overseas airport, baggage must be checked in separately for each segment or flight.

The maximum connecting time between segments or flights that allows through‑baggage check‑in must not exceed 24 hours. For segments or flights with more than 24 hours between them, baggage must also be checked in separately for each segment or flight.

Through‑Baggage Check‑In for International Flights

When departing from locations in the Russian Federation to destinations in the near or far abroad, you may check in for the airline's flight and check your baggage through to the final destination, provided that the baggage does not contain goods subject to written declaration. This service is not available on all routes; please contact the airline's Contact Centre for clarification.

You can review the list of goods subject to mandatory written declaration, as approved by Decision No. 107 of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission dated 20.12.2017 "On Certain Issues Related to Goods for Personal Use", via the following links:

Pursuant to Russian Government Resolution No. 637 dated 10 July 2014 "On the Simplified Procedure for Performing Customs Operations in Respect of Goods Accepted by an Air Carrier for Carriage in Accompanied Baggage", when departing from locations in the near or far abroad, baggage may be checked through to the final destination within the territory of the Russian Federation (provided that the baggage handed over to the air carrier does not contain goods subject to written declaration). Please contact the airline's Contact Centre to clarify the list of departure locations in the near and far abroad where this option is available.

If, as a result of customs inspection, goods subject to customs declaration in writing are identified, an official of the customs authority in respect of such goods immediately takes decisions in accordance with the administrative and (or) criminal procedure legislation of the Russian Federation, or such goods are detained in accordance with Chapter 51 of the EAEU Customs Code.
